DIY Nail Manicure: Let's Play with Lemon!

Hi pretties,

Today I'm back with my Do-It-Yourself (DIY) nail manicure series and still play with Lemon! I could not say how much I love this fruit, not just for healthy nails but also for healthy drink, natural face mask, body detox, and err....my favorite one, the lemon cake dessert, yummy! (>‿♥)

Ok, back to topic, in my previous post on DIY nail manicure with baking soda, I told that  it is not recommended to use baking soda regularly to clean up your nails.. So, I find out a good alternatives DIY lemon nail manicure but now we mix it with salt or sugar! Don't worry.. as always, it's easy peasy lemon squeezy! (✿◠‿◠)

Here's the ingredient that you need.. (oops, you don't need a lot of lemons actually.. just 1-2 slices is enough).

ingredients: lemon, sugar, and salt

Next step is to squeeze out the lemon juice and pour it with 1-2 glasses of water. You can choose either cold or warm water, any temperature that makes you comfortable. For me, I prefer using warm water.

squeeze the lemon
Next, sprinkle the sugar on your nails and then scrub it. Sugar in this manicure recipe helps to moisturizes the skin. In this part, I also love to scrub the sliced squeezed lemon to my nails and scrub the sugar in my palms, it makes my hands feeling moist and soft. After that, soak your fingers into the lemon juice and water mixture for 4 to 5 minutes and then rinse it with clean water. The best part is, I love to smell my hands afterwards. It smell sweet, fresh, and feel so clean!

Good thing about this lemon sugar scrub is you can do it anytime you want, unlike the baking soda, sugar is totally recommended to be used regularly as a natural scrub to your nails. I love to do it 2-3 times a week before I paint my nails.

If you run out sugar at home.. don't worry, you can substitute the sugar with salt. Salt is believed as natural scrub that can remove dead skin around your nails. After scrubbing your nails with salt, the same step as sugar scrub, you need to dip your fingers into the lemon water and rinse it with clean water accordingly. Same like sugar lemon scrub, you can do the salt lemon scrub anytime you want.

Don't forget to wrap up this ritual with your favorite hand lotion to moist your hands. This scrubbing ritual only take 10 to 15 minutes max (another extra 5 minutes to slice the lemon, squeeze it, and prepare the warm water). Overall, between the sugar scrub and salt scrub, my favorite is of course the sugar scrub. Why? because it feels a lot softer, makes my nails and hand smoother, and I loveee the smell after. *sniff..sniff*  (✿◠‿◠)

Ah, one more thing, I tell you what, you could also use this lemon sugar and salt recipe to scrub you feet! Isn't it great? *wink*

I believe the regular manicure is not to achieve a short term instant result (although indeed you can see the result instantly). For me personally, the goal is to maintain and enhance the natural glow of your nails. So, whether you are a polish lover or not, I do strongly recommend to do the manicure to maintain your healthy glow of your nails.

So stay pretty, stay lovely.. and have a nice day ladies!
